Tom GriscomTom Griscom was appointed to the Tennessee Board of Regents on September 30, 2010, by Governor Phil Bredesen representing the third congressional district.

Griscom currently is a media and communications consultant.  He resigned from the Chattanooga Times Free Press in June 2010 after eleven years as Publisher and Executive Editor.    

Griscom’s previous experience includes service as Senior Account Executive with  Washington-based public affairs firm, Powell-Tate Public Affairs; Executive Vice President of External Relations of R. J. Reynolds; first holder of the West Chair of Excellence in Communication at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga; Director of Communications for President Ronald Reagan; and Press Secretary for Senator Howard Baker.

A graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a BA in English,  Griscom is a member of the Blue Key, Scabbard and Blade and Alpha Societies.  He was named Outstanding Alumnus in 2007.

Griscom and his wife, Marion, reside in Chattanooga, TN.
