Construction Underway on Northeast State's Regional Center for Advanced Manufacturing

Workforce development in upper East Tennessee received a boost this fall when construction started on Northeast State Technical Community College’s Regional Center for Advanced Manufacturing. The RCAM is a joint effort by Domtar, Eastman Chemical Co., Northeast State, and the city of Kingsport to help ensure that local industries have a skilled work force on which to draw for the future.

Vol State ultrasound students find the secrets of the body revealed

Ultrasound, also known as sonography, is on the front lines of medical testing. The program at Volunteer State Community College offers extensive clinical training in hospitals and doctor’s offices. It’s backed up with the classroom medical education students need to understand what they see. In the end the students learn to become part of the diagnostic system that helps doctors save lives. Vol State students practice on ultrasound equipment in the college lab, often using each other as patients.
