GUIDELINE A-080

SUBJECT: Degree Credit and Remedial Programming

The Comprehensive Education Reform Act of 1984 (CERA) specifies the following goal for public universities: "The implementation by public universities of policies which ensure that no credit offered for courses which provide remediation for high school deficiencies will apply toward minimum degree requirements for graduation." In compliance with that provision, effective 1985-86 any credit hours awarded for remedial or developmental programming will be net additions to the credit hours required for graduation.
