TNTrained 2018

The TNTrained program is a joint venture with the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TN ECD) and Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) designed to create a unified, statewide approach to recruiting and retaining businesses and jobs for Tennessee by providing professionals in the state’s higher education system and state agencies with a common knowledge base of practices, strategies and skills in working with businesses interested in coming to or expanding in Tennessee.  The program, led by the College System’s Office of Economic and Community Development, also developed a tool box of resources for TNTrained graduates to use as they work collaboratively in recruiting jobs to the state.

The 40-hour program for the Spring 2018 cohort included basic and advanced economic development divided into three working sessions and a culminating project session.  Sessions included:  Economic Development and TBR 101, Building the TNTrained Team, and Developing the TNTrained Tool Box.  The program concluded with a culminating project that examined specific cases involving economic or workforce issues in each of the nine ECD regions.

Congratulations to our Spring 2018 TNTrained graduates!  We look forward to learning from all TBR institutions throughout this process and ultimately creating a powerful approach that allows Tennessee to leverage individual strengths under a unifying brand, TNTrained.

“Developing a shared culture and language that leverages the strengths of your institution or department is one of the best pillars that you have built.  The goal is to provide the best workforce development program in the world.  TNTrained and the institutions that make this brand strong stand as a statewide system that utilizes a common process, shared tools and the ability to create relevant training for industry at a moment’s notice.”
