Regent Larry Autry

A native of Newbern, Tennessee, Larry Autry attended the Industrial Maintenance program at what is now known as TCAT Newbern during the years 1991 and 1992. Autry graduated from Bethel University in McKenzie, Tennessee with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a Master of Business Administration degree. Autry is an Industrial Electricity instructor at TCAT Ripley where he teaches basic electrical theory, motor controls, Residential Wiring, National Electrical Code and Programmable Logic Controllers. He participated in the making of the “Mastered in Tennessee” videos which highlight Tennessee’s abundance of technical skills and vast resources. 

 Autry spent over 35 years working in the manufacturing industry filling roles such as maintenance/ engineering/projects manager , production supervisor, purchasing/receiving manager and plant purchasing agent. From 1987 to 1995 Autry was employed by The Clorox Company for which he participated in the setup and startup of a new detergent manufacturing plant.  He oversaw new equipment projects within the U.S. as well as in Canada and Italy. From 1995 to 2008 Autry worked at the Dyersburg plant for Huish Detergents which was headquartered in Salt Lake City Utah. He was employed by the Sun Products Corporation which is the 2nd largest detergent manufacturer in North America from 2008 until the closing of the Dyersburg Tennessee plant in 2015.  

Mr. Autry and his wife Melissa have 4 children and 4 grandchildren. They attend Hillcrest Baptist Church in Dyersburg where Melissa is the College and Career Sunday school teacher.
