TBR - The College System of Tennessee has launched a new three-part podcast series this fall focused on how to build and cultivate creative teams in higher education as it moves past disruptive forces. Dr. Heidi Leming, Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) vice chancellor for student success, leads the monthly conversation based on a book she selects and discusses with industry experts and higher education leaders.

The Tennessee Board of Regents will hold its next regular quarterly meeting Sept. 22-23, at Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville. The agenda includes system budget requests, proposed policy changes, and reports on fall enrollment, 2021-22 graduation numbers, and the TBR Access and Diversity Program.

As part of AT&T’s continuing commitment to supporting quality education across Tennessee, the AT&T Foundation has donated $130,000 to the College System of Tennessee to pay for industry certification exams for community and technical college students in various Information Technology career fields.
The goal of the grant opportunity is to encourage more students from underserved or underrepresented populations to enter and succeed in IT careers.

The Tennessee Board of Regents’ committee chairs will meet Sept. 7 to receive informational reports and preview items on the draft agenda for the full board’s next quarterly meeting Sept. 22-23. The board’s Audit Committee will meet immediately afterward to review various audit reports and matters.

After a national search and campus forums with four finalists, Tennessee Board of Regents Chancellor Flora W. Tydings is recommending Dr. Jeff McCord for appointment as the next president of Northeast State Community College. The Board of Regents will convene a special called meeting Monday, Aug. 8 to consider acting on the appointment.

The 15th Class of Maxine Smith Fellows – 17 faculty and staff members from colleges and universities across Tennessee – has completed the year-long leadership development program named in honor of the late Maxine A. Smith, a member of the Tennessee Board of Regents from 1994 to 2006 and a longtime civil rights leader in Memphis.
