Welcome to the Office of Academic Affairs
The Tennessee Board of Regents system's Office of Academic Affairs provides leadership through the provision of support and guidance to the board, chancellor, and campuses regarding academic programming and planning, faculty and student issues, and research. Through the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the office provides initiatives that promote quality and accountability of academic programming. The Office of Academic Affairs is responsible for the formulation and implementation of policies and guidelines affecting academic and student affairs on Tennessee Board of Regents’ campuses.
TBR Announces Academic Excellence Awards for Cleveland State Community College and Jackson State Community College
Cleveland State Community College and Jackson State Community College received the Tennessee Board of Regents' Academic Excellence Award at the board's quarterly meeting in September. Both institutions were recognized for redesigning developmental math studies to help students complete courses more successfully. Cleveland State and Jackson State have also received national recognition for their redesign efforts, incuding the prestigious Bellwether Award for Instructional Innovation from the Community College Futures Assembly. The Tennessee Board of Regents began the Academic Excellence Award in 2001 to recognize exemplary institution initiatives that focus on academic excellence worthy of emulation.
Strategic Plan Approved
The Tennessee Board of Regents strategic plan for 2010-2015, Charting the Course, has been approved by the board. The plan seeks to enhance educational outcomes for Tennessee and its citizens, while also allowing institutions to maintain their individual missions and unique qualities.
