Finance and Business Operations Committee Meets

 The committee will discuss the Stark Loan Fund and continue discussions related to maintenance fee and tuition rate proposals. The full Tennessee Board of Regents will vote on any tuition and fee recommendations at its June 21 quarterly meeting at Walters State Community College in Morristown.

The meeting is open to the public and the press as listeners. Jackson State Community College 

Jackson State signEstablished in 1967, Jackson State (JSCC) was the first community college in West Tennessee and remains the only publicly funded college in Jackson.  The college provides accessible learning opportunities and services to a diverse student population and community.  Serving a 14-county area, in addition to its main campus in Jackson, the school has full-service centers located in Humboldt, Lexington, and Savannah.  In partnership with the Tennessee Technology Centers, the college offers classes in Brownsville, Paris, McKenzie, and Whiteville.  Video and online classes also are available.  With nearly 4,400 students, Jackson State has the largest enrollment of any college in Jackson. 

JSCC offers associate degrees, certificates, and enrichment courses as preparation for further higher education and career entry or advancement.  In the Arts and Sciences division there are 28 areas of emphasis in which students can earn the Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degrees. Graduates are then prepared to transfer to a four year school to complete a bachelor’s degree. In the Professional/Technical division, the college offers career-oriented programs through an Associate of Applied Science degree in the areas of business, computer information systems, early childhood education, general technology, industrial technology, medical laboratory technician, nursing, occupational therapist assistant, physical therapist assistant, radiography and respiratory care technology.  In addition to its credit programs, Jackson State’s Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development provides professional and personal development courses to the community as well as workforce training and evaluation to industries.
