37 Colleges, One Mission

At Tennessee’s 13 community colleges and 24 colleges of applied technology, you’ll find the academic programs, resources, and support you need to succeed in today’s competitive job market. Whether you’re fresh out of high school, looking to switch careers, or seeking to enhance your skills, our colleges offer pathways to achieve your goals.

Seamless Credit Transfer

We provide seamless pathways for continuous learning and growth.

  • TCAT to Community College Pathway: Transfer up to 27 credit hours from a Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) to a partnering community college. This agreement helps align your training with industry needs - offering programs in construction, computer technology, welding, industrial maintenance, and most health programs.

  • Tennessee Transfer Pathway Program: Rest assured that if you follow the Tennessee Transfer Pathway program, your community college credits will fully transfer to one of 35 participating four-year colleges and universities within Tennessee. This allows you to further your education with ease and confidence.

Workforce Ready in Months

Imagine starting a promising future without the lengthy commitment of traditional degrees. Tennessee's community and technical colleges offer certificates and short-term credentials in numerous programs that will make you workforce ready in 12 months or less. In just a matter of months you could be launching a new career in fields such as healthcare, manufacturing, construction, business, and education.

Tuition Freedom

In 2014, Tennessee created the Tennessee Promise program for students graduating from Tennessee high schools. Through this innovative program, graduating seniors in our state can qualify for a last-dollar scholarship to cover all mandatory tuition and fees at any community or technical college for up to two years. And with the recent passage of Tennessee Reconnect, the same opportunity will now be available for adults who would like to return to school to earn their degree or certificate and improve their career prospects. Tuition-free means the freedom to pursue your dreams of a better future for yourself and your family.

Program Warranty

 WE GUARANTEE QUALITY

With the Warranty Program, Tennessee’s community and technical colleges will provide one-time retraining, free of charge to graduates who are unable to perform one or more of the skills and competencies identified for their specific programs. The warranty is valid for one year from the date of graduation and is applicable to graduates of the TBR – The College System of Tennessee’s technical programs offering an Associate of Applied Science degree, diploma or technical certificate.
