New TCAT at Stanton opens as state's newest technical college campus

Hundreds of West Tennesseans joined Gov. Bill Lee, Sen. Bill Hagerty, members of the Tennessee Board of Regents, TBR Chancellor Flora W. Tydings, and other state and local officials Friday, June 14, in opening Tennessee College of Applied Technology at Stanton, the state’s newest technical college campus.

The Tennessee Board of Regents Thursday approved tuition and fees for the upcoming academic year, capital budget requests for Fiscal Year 2025-26, and a new associate degree program in nuclear technology at Roane State Community College.

The board also appointed Heath R. McMillian as the next president of Tennessee College of Applied Technology Elizabethton, to succeed President David Hicks, who is resigning June 28.

The Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) has been recognized as a 2024 Top Workplace by the Tennessean – an honor that acknowledges companies ranked by their employees as the best places to work in the state of Tennessee. TBR earned a 5th place ranking in the midsize category among 28 other businesses and organizations.

Chattanooga State, Nashville State, Pellissippi State Community Colleges awarded innovation grants

The Tennessee Board of Regents has awarded grants to three community colleges to foster innovation in corequisite learning support models to improve long-term student success. Corequisite learning support enables students to earn college credit while also receiving the additional support they need to be successful.

The Tennessee Board of Regents will hold its next regular quarterly meeting Thursday, June 13, at Jackson State Community College. The agenda includes, but is not limited to, consideration of recommendations for tuition and fees for Academic Year 2024-25, capital budget requests for Fiscal Year 2025-26, appointment of the next president of Tennessee College of Applied Technology Elizabethton, and a new associate degree program in nuclear technology at Roane State Community College.

At its June 13 quarterly meeting, the Tennessee Board of Regents will consider tuition and mandatory fee increases totaling 4.88 percent at the state’s technical colleges and from 4.58 to 5.37 percent (an average of 5.2 percent) at the community colleges, under recommendations approved May 29 by the board’s Finance and Business Operations Committee.
