Chattanooga State’s President Catanzaro to Retire Dec. 31
Chattanooga State Community College President James Catanzaro has announced his plans to retire effective Dec. 31, 2014.
Catanzaro has served as president of Chattanooga State since 1990, leading the college through years of growth and the development of unique workforce programs to serve the Chattanooga community. He submitted his letter of intent to retire to TBR Chancellor John Morgan last Wednesday.
“President Catanzaro has made substantial contributions to Chattanooga State, its students, and the community it serves,” said TBR Chancellor John Morgan. “I appreciate his recognition that now is the appropriate time for new leadership to step in and allow the college to continue moving forward.”
An interim president will be appointed while a national search for a permanent leader is conducted next year. An announcement concerning the interim appointment will come at a later date.
The College System of Tennessee is the state’s largest public higher education system, with 13 community colleges, 24 colleges of applied technology and the online TN eCampus serving approximately 140,000 students. The system is governed by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
