TCAT at Clarksville hosts Ceramic Tile Manufacturing Operator announcement
On July 29, TCAT Dickson President Laura Travis joined workforce development and ceramic tile industry leaders in Clarksville to announce the launch of a new Ceramic Tile Manufacturing Operator program. At the event, local media members toured the campus and saw firsthand how the new program will build a highly skilled workforce.
Launching this fall on the Clarksville campus, as well as TCAT Hohenwald and TCAT Upper Cumberland, the new 600-hour program familiarizes students with tile production and manufacturing practices. Enrollees will learn how to operate machines they’ll use in their day-to-day tasks, precision measurement skills and the certifications needed to secure a long-term career in the industry.
Ceramic tile is one of four major workforce development priorities for the College System in 2026, and Tennessee is a national and global leader in its production. With eight ceramic tile manufacturers located in our state and a 25 percent increase in industry job growth over the last eight years, now is the time for students to get the training needed to enter this growing, innovative industry.
