Two finalists selected for next president of Tennessee College of Applied Technology Oneida/Huntsville. Campus public interviews set for April 9.

Two finalists have been selected for the next president of Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Oneida/Huntsville. Both will participate in public interviews on the campus in Oneida on April 9, the next step in the selection process.
The finalists are:
- Noah Duncan, currently vice president of business and student services at TCAT Knoxville. He joined the TCAT system as a student success coach at TCAT Oneida/Huntsville in 2017 and has worked at the two campuses in various roles since then, except for six months in the private sector in 2022. He earned a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in sports administration, both from Tennessee Technological University.
- Timothy Smith, currently vice president of TCAT Oneida/Huntsville. He joined the system at TCAT Oneida/Huntsville in 2007 as a high school liaison and guidance counselor, and has served there and at TCAT Jacksboro since then. He earned master of science and bachelor of science degrees in elementary education, both at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
The campus interviews with the finalists on April 9, 2026, are open to the public and are scheduled to start at 9 a.m. ET with Duncan, followed by Smith at 10:30 a.m., in Room 112 of Building 1 on the TCAT Oneida campus at 180 Eli Lane, Oneida, TN 37841. The public and campus community also may participate virtually via Microsoft Teams through the meeting link provided on the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) presidential/executive search webpage (https://www.tbr.edu/hr/executivesearches/president-tcat-oneida).
The next president will succeed Dwight Murphy, who is retiring this summer after 20½ years as the college’s president. During that time, he also served in a dual capacity as president of TCAT Knoxville from 2012 through 2018.
The Board approved the search criteria for the presidency at its December quarterly meeting. The search committee was chaired by Regent Miles Burdine and included as members Regents Christi Branscom, Makena Davis and Angela Richardson, and representatives of the TCAT faculty, staff, students, and community members. The committee reviewed 13 applicants before recommending the two finalists.
After the campus interviews, TBR Chancellor Flora W. Tydings will review input from the campus community and public, conduct final interviews, and recommend a single candidate to the Board of Regents. An online candidate feedback survey form for public and campus community input is available until April 17 on the webpage linked above. The board is expected to consider appointment of the next president during a special called meeting April 30.
