Certified success! Tennessee Board of Regents continues powering Tennessee’s workforce

Jimmy Ramirez, NC3 Student

As the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) rapidly approaches one million certifications across its national network in 17 years of existence, TBR – The College System of Tennessee proudly recognizes the thousands of certifications earned by students at community and technical colleges across the state. All 23 Tennessee colleges of applied technology (TCATs) and three of the system’s community colleges provided NC3 training, leading to 60,262 certifications. These students have solidified our state’s exceptional workforce, leading to Tennessee being recently ranked third in CNBC’s Top States for Business.

Every student enrolled in a Tennessee community or technical college has a success story about their individual journey to career readiness, empowering them to thrive across every industry sector. Some, like TCAT Jackson graduate Jimmy Ramirez, have secured careers they never even imagined. Through TCAT Jackson, Ramirez participated in a co-op program with Kellanova, which led to a full-time position as an electrical technician after completing the school’s industrial maintenance integrated automation program. His story is just one example of how the College System of Tennessee is fulfilling its mission of student success and workforce development.

Just as NC3 is rooted in industry-aligned, hands-on learning that mirrors real-world job environments, TBR colleges are committed to providing pathways and resources for students to secure high-demand jobs through career and technical education opportunities. Congratulations to NC3 on its incredible milestone and our graduates on their fantastic achievements. Tennessee remains a national leader in workforce development, and our state’s future is bright!

The College System of Tennessee is the state’s largest public higher education system, with 13 community colleges, 23 colleges of applied technology, and the online TN eCampus serving approximately 140,000 students. The system is governed by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
