Awesome August: TBR celebrates three new projects with ribbon cuttings
August has been an incredible month of celebrations for TBR - the College System of Tennessee.
On Aug. 3, the College System joined local and state leaders in Roane County for the ribbon-cutting ceremony at Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Harriman. This $46.3 million dollar investment in technical education and training expands space for programming that includes construction, electrical, HVAC, machine tool technology and others.
Columbia State Community College (CSCC), alongside partners TCAT Hohenwald and TCAT Pulaski, hosted a fabulous Friday night gathering on Aug. 21, including live music and a 300-drone light show to mark the opening of the Southern Regional Technology Center. This new facility is a regional hub for hands-on training in high-demand fields, including nursing, welding, HVAC, automotive technology, respiratory care and engineering systems technology.

On Aug. 24, the 49,000-square-foot Fentress County Higher Education Center officially opened its doors. Located in Jamestown, this $25 million investment is a partnership between Roane State Community College and TCAT Oneida/Huntsville. It will modernize and expand education and technical training opportunities in practical nursing, telecommunications, industrial maintenance, building construction technology and allied health.
The College System remains grateful to Gov. Bill Lee and the Tennessee General Assembly for their committed partnership and generational investment in these and other communities across our great state!
The College System of Tennessee is the state’s largest public higher education system, with 13 community colleges, 22 colleges of applied technology, and the online TN eCampus serving approximately 170,000 students. The system is governed by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
