Search for Pellissippi State Community College’s next president launches with public forum Nov. 3

As the next step in the search for the next president of Pellissippi State Community College, a public forum providing the campus community and the public an opportunity to share views on the search process will be held Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026.
The forum will present an overview of the search process and an opportunity to voice views on the aspirations and needs of the college in the selection of its next president. It will be held at 11:30 a.m. ET in the Clayton Performing Arts Center at Pellissippi’s Hardin Valley Campus, 10915 Hardin Valley Road, Knoxville. It will also be accessible via Zoom teleconferencing. To join the Zoom forum at that time, click here [https://us06web.zoom.us/j/86052375825] and enter the Meeting ID: 860 5237 5825. Anyone needing assistance may contact Mary Ann Hammonds, executive assistant to the chancellor, at maryann.hammonds@tbr.edu or 615-366-4403.
The forum is hosted by the executive search firm Greenwood Asher & Associates, which is assisting the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) in the search. A search advisory committee composed of representatives of the Board, faculty, staff, students and alumni, and business and civic leaders from the community will lead the search, review applicants, and recommend finalists for the presidency.
Finalists will be announced and introduced in campus interviews to be scheduled in spring 2027. TBR Chancellor Flora W. Tydings will then conduct final interviews and review input from the campus community and the public to select one candidate for recommendation to the Board of Regents, which will appoint the president.
The next president will succeed Dr. L. Anthony Wise Jr., who has announced plans to retire next May after the conclusion of the current academic year. Dr. Wise has 30 years of service to the state of Tennessee and 16 years as the college’s president, its chief executive officer.
The Board approved criteria for the next president during its September quarterly meeting. Details – including the presidential criteria, how to submit applications, and information about the college – will be posted on the Tennessee Board of Regents President and Executive Searches webpage [https://www.tbr.edu/hr/executivesearches/president-pellissippi-state-community-college], which will be updated as the search progresses.
The College System of Tennessee is the state’s largest public higher education system, with 13 community colleges, 22 colleges of applied technology, and the online TN eCampus serving approximately 170,000 students. The system is governed by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
