Outstanding October! Ribbon cuttings and groundbreaking highlight TBR's busy month

An outstanding October featured four more ribbon-cutting ceremonies and a groundbreaking that will transform aviation industry workforce development across west Tennessee.
On Oct. 12, TBR leaders joined with Nashville State Community College and TCAT Dickson to celebrate the official grand opening of the new state-of-the-art Dickson Center of Higher Education. The Center is a shared space that will solidify current and future workforces in Tennessee's leading healthcare industry. This new facility is home to practical nursing, emergency medical technician (EMT) and medical assisting programming, as well as other opportunities.
That same day, TBR celebrated with state and local leaders as part of a ribbon-cutting ceremony for two new buildings at TCAT Jackson. This facility, a $7.8 million investment, will add space for the college's trucking program and provide a place for local leaders to meet with industries about workforce needs.
TCAT Henry/Carroll at McKenzie officially opened for business Oct. 14. This $11.4 million investment by Gov. Lee and the General Assembly increases capacity and strengthens current and future workforces, offering programs that include: nursing, administrative office technology, tech foundations, automotive, HVAC, industrial maintenance, machine tool technology, welding and additional programs.
TCAT Memphis' new Millington campus was the site of a groundbreaking ceremony on Oct. 21. This college, located next door to the Millington-Memphis Airport, is a place where aviation workforce development will truly soar! The $41.3 million project is the future home of the college's aviation technology and avionics programs. It would not be possible without support from the governor, General Assembly, Congressman David Kustoff, local leaders and partners that include the Millington-Memphis Airport and the Millington Industrial Development Board.
The College System concluded the month with a ribbon cutting at the new TCAT at Greene County, a TCAT Morristown campus. As part of this $34 million investment, TBR honored northeast Tennessee automotive industry leaders Phil and Martha Bachman by naming the facility the Phil and Martha Bachman Center. Through the Phil and Martha Bachman Foundation, the college will receive an additional $12.85 million for a new automotive building and $250,000 annually over the next three years for scholarships to support future automotive students. Thanks to Rep. David Hawk and Sen. Steve Southerland for their leadership on this transformational project!
The College System of Tennessee is the state’s largest public higher education system, with 13 community colleges, 22 colleges of applied technology, and the online TN eCampus serving approximately 170,000 students. The system is governed by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
