TBR Schedules Committees and Called Board Meeting Nov. 25

The Tennessee Board of Regents has scheduled three committee meetings and a special called meeting of the Board for Tuesday, Nov. 25.

The Board will convene in a special called meeting at 1 p.m. CST to briefly receive and act upon a recommendation to name new directors for the Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology at Crossville and at Dickson.

Committee meetings scheduled for the same day include the Audit Committee, beginning at 10 a.m., followed by the Ad Hoc Committee on Committees. The Committee Chairs meeting will convene following the Board’s action in the afternoon.

The Audit Committee agenda includes:

  1. Informational reporting on reviews of the Comptroller’s Office audit reports, corrective actions on performance audit findings, internal audit reports, and annual audits and expenses for the Chancellor and presidents;
  2. Review of revisions to Fiscal Year 2015 internal audit plans;
  3. Review of audit committee charter;
  4. Review of salaries and staffing for system-wide internal audit;
  5. New TBR policy on the report of expenditures of the Chancellor and presidents; and
  6. Non-public executive session.

The Ad Hoc Committee on Committees will follow the Audit Committee. On the agenda are

  1. Report on the Association of Governing Boards conference and recent publications;
  2. Review and approval of the charter for the Workforce Development Committee;
  3. Discussion about non-voting student and faculty committee representatives; and
  4. Next steps.

The Committee Chairs meeting is scheduled to begin at approximately 1:20 p.m. CST with the following agenda:

  1. Finance and business issues;
  2. Legislative initiatives and briefings;
  3. Proposed revisions to TBR policy regarding admissions (dual enrollment);
  4. Academic Affairs issues;
  5. Update on the director’s search at Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology at Covington and Ripley; and
  6. Review draft of December Board meeting agenda.

All meetings are open to the public and the press with the exception of the non-public executive session of the Audit Committee. The College System of Tennessee is the state’s largest public higher education system, with 13 community colleges, 24 colleges of applied technology and the online TN eCampus serving approximately 140,000 students. The system is governed by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
