The following are the Statewide Dual Credit articulation policies for different postsecondary institutions in Tennessee. The left column indicates how to receive credit at each institution. The right column indicates the credit received if the cut score is exceeded at each institution. Community Colleges

 
Chattanooga State Community College

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 
  1. Student applies to Chattanooga State Community College.
  2. Student is accepted.
  3. Student contacts the Enrollment Service Center (ESC) or their advisor about Statewide Dual Credit.
  4. The ESC or advisor contacts the transcript evaluator regarding the course.
  5. Transcript evaluator verifies the score in the EPSO database.
  6. If the score is verified to exceed the cut score, the transcript evaluator will enter the credit on SHATRNS using the C20008 as the transfer institution code.
Columbia State Community College

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 
  1. The Enrollment Services Processing Unit identifies SDC on a high school transcript.
  2. The SDC exam score is verified through the EPSO database.
  3. The scores are sent to the appropriate Deans by the Records Office.
  4. Once approved, the credit will be applied.
Cleveland State Community College

To apply a student’s Statewide or Local Dual Credit to his/her transcript, the student must:

 
  1. Successfully complete the articulated high school course(s).
  2. Pass the Dual Credit Assessment with the minimum cut score. Please note: Dual Credit assessments can only be taken once.
  3. Enroll at Cleveland State Community College within two years of graduating from high school.
  4. Complete the online Dual Credit Application.
 

To complete the Dual Credit Application, students should:

 
  1. Log into their Cougarnet account.
  2. Under Registration Tools and Forms, select the Prior Learning tab.
  3. Select Dual Credit Application and complete the form as directed.
Dyersburg State Community College

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 

Once a student enrolls at DSCC, the student notifies the Director of Admissions and Records that they have taken and passed a state dual credit exam. The EPSO database is then checked for score verification and credit is posted to the student’s transcript.

Jackson State Community College

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 

Students who have passed an exam can email admissions@jscc.edu with a request to have their file reviewed and credit added to their JSCC transcript.

Motlow State Community College

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 

When a student matriculates to Motlow State Community College, credit for SDC is verified and posted by the Admissions & Records Department. We regularly review incoming high school transcripts for Statewide Dual Credit. Additionally, if a student mentions that they may have earned credit through the SDC program, we will use the EPSO database to verify that information and post if applicable. Once that credit is verified and posted by the Admissions & Records Department, it will show up on the students official record and Graduation Planning System; this allows the student to take full advantage of that earned credit within their academic career here.

Nashville State Community College

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 

Per the Tennessee Department of Education policy, it is the student's responsibility to notify the Records Office at NSCC. NSCC staff will verify passing scores in the EPSO database. NSCC Admissions Clerks will also check for the SDC Challenge Exam score in the exam section of the HS transcript.

Northeast State Community College

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 

Passed SDC exams are automatically loaded to the student’s academic record upon receipt of the high school transcript with SDC credit listed in the appropriate score area. The grade in the course is loaded as a “P” passing grade.

Pellissippi State Community College

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 
  1. Student matriculates to college and submits high school transcript.
  2. High school transcript typically lists SDC score and Transcript Analysts will award credit. Should SDC score not be listed on high school transcript, we will verify through EPSO Database.
  3. Student’s credit is awarded and entered into Banner.
Roane State Community College

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 
  1. Complete an application for admission to Roane State Community College.
  2. Send an official high school transcript to Roane State Records Office with the exam score listed in the testing section..
  3. Upon receipt, the appropriate credit will be awarded.
Southwest Tennessee State Community College

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 

Once a student is accepted to Southwest, the Admissions Office reviews the high school transcript to verify the student has completed a state dual credit exam. A passing score is then verified through the EPSO database, and transfer PLA credit is articulated and applied.

Volunteer State Community College

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 

Students identified by the Office of Admissions as successfully completing Statewide Dual Credit will have earned credit automatically articulated after being validated in the EPSO Database by the Office of Records & Registration.

Students may also self-identify to the Office of Admissions, Office of Records & Registration, or to their advisor. The office or person to which the student self-identifies will notify the Office of Records & Registration to validate and articulate earned Statewide Dual Credit.

Transfer students with Statewide Dual Credit on their college transcript will have the credit automatically articulated by the Office of Records & Registration.

Walters State Community College

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 

Upon matriculation, it is the student’s responsibility to contact Student Enrollment Services to provide his or her statewide dual credit course and exam information in order for post-secondary credit to be awarded. Student Enrollment Services will then verify a passing score in the Early Post-secondary Data System and award appropriate credit as determined by the institution. A student will receive a Passing Grade (P) for awarded credit.

 

University of Tennessee System

 
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 
  1. Students must request a final high school transcript from their high school guidance counselor that includes the challenge exam cut score.
  2. The high school should send the transcript directly to transcripts@utc.edu
  3. Credit will be added to students’ records once we receive a transcript that demonstrates the exam ‘cut score’ was met or exceeded.
University of Tennessee Southern

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 
  1. Students who have taken statewide dual credit examinations should contact the UT Southern Registrar’s Office.
  2. The Registrar’s Office will check the statewide database to validate the scores and process the credit.
University of Tennessee at Knoxville

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 
  1. Admitted students are responsible for contacting the Undergraduate Admissions Transfer Center to receive course credit.
  2. SDC exam scores will be verified through the EPSO Portal.
  3. Upon verification, admitted students who successfully passed the SDC exam(s) will have the appropriate UT course credit added to their MyUTK Test/Course Equivalencies page for review.
  4. Admitted students will not be able to view or add any available prior learning credit to their academic record until they meet with their academic advisor to discuss how the pending credit(s) may be used toward their degree program. Please note, once the admitted student adds any prior learning credit(s) to their academic record it cannot be removed.
 
University of Tennessee at Martin

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 
  1. The most recent TN high school transcripts templates provide a place for the SDC test score and passing minimum required
  2. Either Admissions gives Academic Records a copy of the high school transcript so they can enter the SDC score as transfer credit or the student will communicate with the Academic Records office directly
  3. Academic Records verifies the passing score either on the high school transcript or via the EPSO database of SDC scores and then enters the passing credit as transfer work

 

Public 4-Year Institutions

Tennessee State University

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 

Once a student is accepted at Tennessee State University (TSU), the student’s high school transcript can be reviewed to verify the student has completed the statewide dual courses and the statewide dual credit exam. A passing score is then confirmed in the Early Postsecondary Opportunities (EPSO) database and Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) credit articulated and applied. It is the student's responsibility to notify TSU of their Statewide Dual Credit (SDC) eligibility

  1. Complete an application for admission to Tennessee State University.
  2. Request an official high school transcript be sent to Tennessee State University, Admissions.
  3. Request all official college/university transcript(s) be sent to TSU, Admissions.
  4. Once accepted by TSU, proceed to self-identify to: adultstudentsupport@tnstate.edu. Your email should include your Name, TSU assigned ID number, and a request for an audit of the Statewide Dual Credit. TSU will review your Final High School transcript and the Statewide Dual Credit Exam Results on the EPSO database.
  5. Passed score credit results will appear in your transcript history.
  6. Failed results will not appear in your transcript history. TSU will email your TSU assigned email once the review is complete.
  7. Complete step four (4), as soon as possible, to avoid peak processing time-delays.

Austin Peay State University

  1. Students who have taken statewide dual credit examinations should contact the Registrar’s Office.
  2. The Registrar’s Office will verify the scores and process the credit.
  3. Once verified, the credit will be added to the student's transcript
Middle Tennessee State Univeristy

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 

Middle Tennessee State University proactively tries to review high school transcripts to automatically award any Statewide Dual Credit earned. An email is sent to your MTSU and personal email addresses when the credit is posted so you are notified and can review your credit. If you have successfully completed a Statewide exam and we haven’t posted the credit to your record, please email ugtransfer@mtsu.edu with your name, MTSU ID, and which Statewide Dual Credit exams you passed and which year you completed them. We’ll then confirm the credit against the Statewide Dual Credit database and get those credits posted to your record.

 
East Tennessee State Univeristy

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 

In order for credit to be considered, an official transcript must be forwarded directly from the reporting agency or testing center.

Tennessee Technological University

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 
  1. Freshmen will have the opportunity to respond when registering for orientation whether prior learning assessment exams have been attempted or not.
  2. Transfer students will have the opportunity to respond where transfer courses have been completed when registering for orientation.
  3. Results will be verified with high school transcript or the Early Postsecondary Opportunities (EPSOs) Data System by Registrar staff for admitted students to determine if minimum cut off scores were met for credit to be awarded.
  4. Students should check with professional/faculty advisor at orientation if credit is not displaying on their Tennessee Tech academic transcript for the exam.
The University of Memphis

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

 
  1. Students must request a final high school transcript from their high school guidance counselor that includes the challenge exam cut score.
  2. The high school should send the transcript directly to admissions@memphis.edu
  3. SDC exam scores will be verified through the EPSO Portal.
  4. Upon verification, admitted students who successfully passed the SDC exam(s) will have the appropriate UofM course credit added to their UMDegree page for review.

 

Private Institutions

Johnson University

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

  1. The student applies, sends the high school transcript, and is accepted to Johnson University (JU).
  2. The Registrar’s Office identifies SDC scores on the high school transcript. If the score is not included on the high school transcript, the student must notify the Registrar’s Office.
  3. The Registrar’s Office verifies the score in the EPSOs Data System.
  4. The Registrar’s Office will award credit on the JU transcript if the score meets or exceeds the cut score, and the credit meets the student’s degree requirements and does not duplicate another course or exam.
Bethel University

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

  1. Apply to Bethel University, send high school transcript to the University.
  2. If the SDC is noted on the high school transcript, Admissions will pull the score report and send to the Registrar for evaluation.
  3. The Registrar will award credit on the transcript if the score meets or exceeds the cut score and is not duplicate credit of another course or exam.
  4. If the SDC notation is not on the high school transcript, the student will need to notify the Registrar or the Admissions Coordinator; and, the Registrar or Admissions Coordinator will search the database for the student record and then send to the Registrar for evaluation.
Freed-Hardeman University

Here is the process for transcripting Statewide Dual Credit:

  1. Incoming student shall send FHU official high school transcript. Upon review by the Registrar, State Dual Credit earned will be notated for verification
  2. Once test score(s) have been verified the Registrar will post the course credit to the official transcript/student record.
  3. The grade of “M” will be posted. This grade reflects earned credit.
  4. The State Dual Credit will be earned hours and will count for degree completion.
South College

Process for transcription Statewide Dual Credit:

  1. Student applies to South College.
  2. Student provides a copy of their high school transcript and indicates to the Office of Admissions that they received statewide dual credit.
  3. The Office of Admissions will notify the Office of the Registrar.
  4. The Registrar will review the student’s high school transcript and verify exam scores through the EPSO database.
  5. The Registrar will apply the credit to the student’s transcript upon enrollment at South College.
