Wendy J. Thompson is Vice Chancellor for Organizational Effectiveness. Prior to her becoming  vice chancellor, Wendy oversaw TBR’s successful implementation of the Geier Consent Decree.  She began her career in higher education at the University of South Florida in 1988.  Prior to joining the TBR staff Dr. Thompson served as University Counsel and Assistant to the President at Middle Tennessee State University from 1993 to 2001.  Dr.

Title VI Compliance

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination based on race, color or national origin in the implementation of any program or activity that receives federal funds. The Tennessee Board of Regents is covered by Title VI, which in Tennessee is overseen by the Tennessee Title VI Compliance Commission. The Tennessee Board of Regents is required to file an annual plan for implementing Title VI.

About the Program

The Maxine Smith Fellows Program was originally created as a TBR central office Geier initiative designed to provide opportunities for African-American TBR employees to participate in a working and learning environment that would enhance work experience and career development.  The TBR central office remains committed to the program as a tool for enhancing opportunities and as a means to increase the diversity of ideas, thoughts and experiences that ultimately enhance the educational environment at our institutions.

2018-2019 Completion Agenda Support Grants

The TBR Completion Initiative Grants are designed to provide support for institutional efforts towards furthering the state’s goal of increasing the educational attainment level of all citizens, with a focus on underrepresented and other targeted student populations. 

These initiatives are specifically designed to assist campuses to implement programs that align with the system and campus student success and completion agenda, as well as strategic diversity planning efforts.
