Southwest's Police Services/Public Safety Dept. is one of three finalists for national award of excellence

Southwest Tennessee Community College’s Police Services/Public Safety Department is one of three national finalists vying for the American Association of Community Colleges 2019 Awards of Excellence in the category of Community College Safety and Planning. The prestigious award recognizes exceptional work among the nation’s 1,200 two-year, associate degree-granting institutions. The other finalists are College of DuPage in Illinois and Rockland Community College in New York.

Memphis area colleges, businesses announce January 2019 launch of construction apprenticeship program

Thousands of skilled labor jobs go unfilled in Memphis every day. Presidents of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology at Memphis (TCAT Memphis), Southwest Tennessee Community College and The MMBC Continuum announced Tuesday a joint venture with the newly formed TAP Education Consortium to launch a construction apprenticeship program. Beginning in January 2019, participants will work during the day and attend TCAT Memphis at night to learn skills in electrical, masonry or concrete.

Gov. Haslam delivers Commencement address at Southwest Tennessee Community College

Gov. Bill Haslam wrapped up the 2017 Spring Commencement season for Tennessee's community colleges by addressing graduates at Southwest Tennessee Community College on Saturday.

It was the second consecutive Saturday that Gov. Haslam spent on the road addressing graduates and honoring the first class of Tennessee Promise students to graduate. He was also the main commencement speaker at Cleveland State Community College on May 6.
