The Tennessee Board of Regents will meet in regular quarterly session at Nashville State Community College on Thursday and Friday, June 23 and 24.
Committee meetings will begin at 1 p.m. CDT June 23 in Room S-118 of the Student Services Building. Committees will meet in this order: Finance and Business Operations; Personnel and Compensation; Academic Policies and Programs; Business, Community and Public Affairs; and Committee on Tennessee Technology Centers. The full Board of Regents meeting will begin Friday, June 24, at 9:30 a.m. in the same location.

The Finance and Business Committee of the Tennessee Board of Regents will hold its next telephonic meeting at 3 p.m. CDT on Monday, June 13. The committee will discuss recommendations on maintenance fee proposals and tuition as well as changes in mandatory and incidental fees.

Colleges and universities across the state are transforming the way they prepare Tennessee’s teachers, and the spotlight was on them this Thursday.
As more emphasis is placed on student outcomes through the Race to the Top competition, more attention is focused on preparing teachers to become more successful in the K-12 classroom.

The Tennessee Board of Regents today unanimously approved L. Anthony Wise Jr. as the new president of Pellissippi State Community College.
Wise will assume the presidency on July 1, replacing Allen Edwards, who has served at the college’s helm since 1993.

The Tennessee Board of Regents will hold a telephonic meeting at 3 p.m. (CDT) Thursday, May 12, to consider Chancellor John Morgan’s recommendation that Dr. L. The committee will also consider for approval the recommended criteria for the search for a president of East Tennessee State University. Current president Paul Stanton announced his retirement effective January 14, 2012.

Tennessee Board of Regents Chancellor John Morgan is speaking out, expressing his concern for the safety of students, faculty and staff on college campuses if a bill being discussed in the legislature to allow guns on public campuses is passed.
Morgan has joined the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police, University of Tennessee President Joe DiPietro, and numerous other presidents, faculty, staff and students of Tennessee’s public higher education institutions in opposing the bills.

A slight change has been made to the interview schedules for two of the candidates for president at Pellissippi State Community College.
The 4-5 p.m. ET receptions for David H. Devier and L. Anthony Wise have been swapped. Devier’s reception will now be held on Tuesday, April 12, and Wise’s reception is changed to Wednesday, April 13.
