Search committee for next president of Volunteer State Community College to hold first meeting & public forum April 28

Vol State presidential search begins

The Search Advisory Committee leading the search for the next president of Volunteer State Community College has scheduled its first meeting and a public forum on Wednesday, April 28.

The forum is scheduled for 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. CT, with the committee’s meeting immediately following at 9:30 a.m. – both by teleconferencing due to health and safety precautions for the Covid-19 pandemic.

Committee appointed to lead search for next president of Volunteer State Community College

The Search Advisory Committee that will lead the search for the next president of Volunteer State Community College has been appointed and will meet April 28, following a public forum on the search process.

Regent MaryLou Apple will chair the 18-member committee, which also includes Regents Joey Hatch and Emily J. Reynolds and representatives of the college’s students, faculty, staff and alumni, and civic and business leaders from the community. The complete list of members is below.

Seven College System leaders named to Complete Tennessee Leadership Institute Class of 2020-21

Complete Tennessee Leadership Institute

Seven of the 30 members of the Complete Tennessee Leadership Institute class of 2020-21 announced today by the State Collaborative on Reforming Education represent Tennessee community and technical colleges and the College System of Tennessee.

SCORE invited the 30 leaders from across higher education, K-12 education, business and industry, and nonprofit organizations to participate in the 5th Complete Tennessee Leadership Institute.

Volunteer State Community College's Springfield campus receives approval to offer degree programs

Volunteer State Community College's Springfield campus has received approval from the Tennessee Board of Regents and Tennessee Higher Education Commission to offer complete college degree programs in Robertson County starting this fall semester 2020. The college has offered classes at the Springfield campus since 2011 but until now, students have had to combine the courses offered in Springfield with other courses held online or on the Vol State Gallatin campus to obtain a degree.

A Vol State grad's hope for the future

More than 2,000 Fall Semester graduates were awarded their degrees and certificates at commencement ceremonies at several of our community and technical colleges in December.

About half of the 40 College System of Tennessee institutions hold Fall commencements. Fall Semester graduates of colleges without December ceremonies can participate in their college's Spring Semester graduation ceremonies, which are held at all the colleges.

Board of Regents approves tuition & fees, campus construction project recommendations, other business in quarterly meeting

Board approves tuition & fees, building projects

The Tennessee Board of Regents today set tuition and fees for the 2019-20 academic year and approved a list of new campus building projects that will move to the next step in the state’s funding process for the 2020-21 fiscal year.

Tuition and mandatory fees combined average a 2.45 increase from last year – the lowest percentage increase since 1991 at Tennessee’s community colleges and since 2013 at the Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology (TCATs). It is the third consecutive year in which combined tuition and fee increases are less than 3 percent.
