As part of its strategic plan to increase access and student success, the Tennessee Board of Regents has awarded new grants totaling $650,000 to 27 faculty teams at 14 colleges and universities to create free Open Educational Resources for their courses.

After a national search and campus forums for four finalists, Tennessee Board of Regents Chancellor Flora W. Tydings is recommending Dr. Ty A. Stone for appointment as the next president of Cleveland State Community College. The Board of Regents will convene a special called meeting May 25 to consider acting on the appointment.

Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Jackson has appointed Heath R. McMillian as executive vice president of the college’s Blue Oval City Campus now under development at the West Tennessee Megasite.

Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Newbern has officially changed its name to Tennessee College of Applied Technology Northwest, in recognition of its broader northwestern Tennessee service area.
In addition to its main campus in Newbern, the public technical college also offers career and technical education at its extension campuses in Bells, Dyersburg and Union City.

The Search Advisory Committee leading the Tennessee Board of Regents' search for the next president of Northeast State Community College has been appointed and will meet for its orientation session and a public forum Wednesday, April 27.
Board of Regents Member Miles Burdine will chair the 17-member committee. Other members are Board Members Emily J. Reynolds and Danni B. Varlan, and representatives of the college’s faculty, staff, students and alumni, and business and community representatives from Northeast Tennessee. During its quarterly meeting Thursday, the Tennessee Board of Regents appointed Susanne Cox as the next president of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Morristown, effective May 1, and approved the search criteria for the next president of Northeast State Community College.

The College System of Tennessee honored its outstanding students, faculty, staff and supporters of the year at the 4th annual Statewide Outstanding Achievement Awards (SOAR) celebration Wednesday night, March 30, in Nashville.
In addition to individual SOAR award winners, Walters State Community College won the Community College of the Year cup and the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Elizabethton took home the Technical College of the Year honors.
