The Tennessee Board of Regents will convene a special called meeting Tuesday, June 2, to receive and act on recommendations by Chancellor Flora W. Tydings for the next president of Jackson State Community College and the board’s next general counsel.

The virtual meeting will be streamed live and archived on the TBR website at https://www.tbr.edu/board/june-2-2020-special-called-board-meeting starting at 8:30 a.m. CT, with consideration of the two appointments the only items on the agenda.

Jackson State Community College presidential search committee's first meeting & public forum are Nov. 15

Jackson State

The Search Advisory Committee that will lead the search for a new president of Jackson State Community College has been selected and will meet Nov. 15 at the college, following a public forum to gather campus and community input.

The public forum is scheduled from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 15 in Room 111 of the Jim Moss Center for Nursing building on the college’s main campus at 2046 North Parkway, Jackson. Members of the public and the college community can express their views about the characteristics, qualities and skills the next president should have.

Jackson State Community College leads in computer information technology & cyber defense

The Cyber Defense Program at Jackson State Community College is the only community college program in Tennessee to be certified as a National Center of Academic Excellence by the U.S. National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security.

The designation puts Jackson State among an elite group of institutions across the country offering computer information technology courses that meet rigorous federal standards and sets graduating students apart from others, said Dr. Tom Pigg, Jackson State’s Dean of Health Sciences and Computer Information Technology.

Jackson State Community College & Murray State University provide transfer pathways for students

Representatives from Jackson State Community College and Murray State University met at the City Hall in Paris, TN, February 18 to sign a Memorandum of Understanding establishing a partnership that will offer JSCC students a structured, guaranteed pathway for transferring to MSU.

The MOU provides a seamless transition from a JSCC associate degree program to an MSU bachelor's degree program.

Jackson State Community College's Radiologic Technology students achieve 100% pass rate on national certification exam

JSCC Radiologic Technology students practice X-ray techniques in the college's radiology lab

Students in Jackson State’s Radiologic Technology Program achieved a 100 percent pass rate in the most recent semester, a testament to the program’s longevity and success.

Each of the 21 students who finished the program in August passed the national certification exam on his or her first attempt. The program has produced a 100 percent pass rate on first attempt in six of the last eight years.

Tennessee Board of Regents appoints Dr. Allana Hamilton new president of Jackson State Community College

Dr. Allana Hamilton

The Tennessee Board of Regents appointed Dr. Allana R. Hamilton as the fifth president of Jackson State Community College on Thursday.

Hamilton is currently vice president for academic affairs at Northeast State Community College in Blountville, Tenn., a position she has held since 2010. She will assume the presidency in Jackson on Jan. 10, 2017.
