TBR International Education Officers
The principal role of the Center for Global Innovation, Partnerships, and Student Success (CGIPSS) is to support the Tennessee Board of Regent’s efforts for global education, workforce preparedness, and student success. The Center pursues strategies that align TBR’s international programs and assets with the TBR Strategic Plan and with the state of Tennessee’s international goals and needs.
The vast majority of international education activities are initiated at the campus level. The CGIPSS assists TBR campuses with all aspects of campus internationalization, Study Abroad program development, and international student services.
The CGIPSS supports and monitors these important activities as part of its continuing pursuit of education excellence. Whenever possible and beneficial, the CGIPSS seeks to facilitate collaboration and communication among related institutional programs.
The Center’s major priorities includes:
- Establishing system-wide “best practices” to assist our international programs in developing and maintaining solid programs.
- Supporting educational and cultural programs that foster greater understanding and appreciation for other cultures and traditions.
- Administering TBR’s J-1 Exchange Visitor program consortium which invites foreign individuals and delegations to Tennessee for teaching, research, and study.
- Collecting and monitoring a variety of data about TBR study abroad participation, international student matriculation, and other key aspects of international education.
- Coordinating the System Council on International Education (SCIE), TBR’s international advisory committee, and the Study Abroad and International Student sub-committees.
